The International Organization is generally an organization formed by the world community consisting of several countries with the aim of creating better international relations in economic, socio-cultural, scientific and technological aspects, security, and others. The Indonesian state itself follows a number of international organizations which are expected to have a positive impact on the existence of Indonesia in these organizations.
How important is the relationship made between countries with various capabilities, in general, students can also participate in the activities of international organizations, therefore this article will discuss several international organizations that can be followed by students, among others are as follows;
1.Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC)
Indonesia was one of the countries that attended the conference in Rabat, Morocco, in 1989, which gave birth to the OIC or the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC). This organization aims to increase Islamic solidarity, support world peace, and assist the struggle for Palestinian independence.
As a member, Indonesia has an important role by pioneering the idea of a New Islamic World Information System, becoming Chair of the Committee of Six, hosting a Ministerial Summit, OIC Summit, OIC Extraordinary Summit, and helping the peace of disputed Islamic countries.
2.United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF)
This organization is under the auspices of the United Nations and was founded on September 11, 1946 in New York, United States. The purpose of the establishment of UNICEF is to overcome the problem of poverty, violence, the spread of disease, and discrimination in the world of children, especially in developing countries.
By joining as a member, the Indonesian government can work together with UNICEF in various forms of programs to improve welfare, advance education, and ensure the safety of children.
3.Model United Nations (MUN)
MUN brings together heads of state or state delegations to jointly find solutions to world problems. Members of the MUN will usually be confronted with a simulation of the UN session and learn how to make decisions in international organizations by playing the role of being a delegate.
We are allowed to feel how a diplomat represents his country and conduct diplomacy for his country in the UN session forum. We are also trained to draw up draft resolution, which is a joint agreement document that contains solutions for the results of the session discussion.
4.Asian African Youth Government
Is a non-profit organization targeting to “Strengthening Asia-Africa Partnership through Networking and Cooperation”. It is a huge endeavour that helps bring together the youth from all over Asia and Africa, especially, those who pursue their studies in Indonesia, exhorting them to work towards effective Policies, Change and Development.
This conference aims at connecting young Asian-African people in hope to promote the Partnership through Networking and Cooperation within Asia and Africa, noting that the youth of today are the leaders of tomorrow.
